Phor Groath (pronounced "for growth") is more than a photography business—it's a reminder that every milestone, achievement, and memory is part of a much bigger journey.

Owner Brian Jones has always been a creative at heart. In 2017, he purchased an inexpensive camera simply to explore a new hobby, photographing friends, local events, and anything that sparked his interest. What began as a creative outlet quickly evolved into something more.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the photography industry, Brian stepped in to help families, athletes, and organizations continue capturing life's important moments. The growing demand revealed an opportunity to turn a hobby into a profession.

In 2023, Brian invested in professional-grade equipment and launched Phor Groath Photography with a vision of delivering high-quality, modern photography to schools, athletes, and families. His dramatic Media Day portraits quickly became a favorite among high school athletic programs throughout the region.

The momentum continued in 2024 when Phor Groath Photography partnered with Merced Community Services, local youth sports leagues, and private schools, expanding its reach throughout the Central Valley.

Today, Phor Groath Photography proudly serves five schools across the greater Merced area while continuing to grow through youth sports, senior portraits, school photography, and community partnerships.

Our name reflects what we believe: every photograph captures more than a smile—it captures progress, perseverance, and the moments that shape who we become. We're honored to preserve those memories and grow alongside every student, athlete, family, and community we serve—because every picture tells the story of growth, and every year gives us another reason to be, Phor Groath.
